Does anybody out there know that this song (the lyrics) is based on Frank Zappa’s “Let’s Make the Water Turn Black”? ‘Kenny will stash him away in a jar ; The child will thrive and grow…..’
Alex Harvey rocks no doubt!!!
another quote from the song “Zappa Zappa, Zappa Zappa Zappa Zappa…..”
‘
Alex Harvey was the most hard-core Brit artist ever to come out of our island. Forget Bowei, forget Jagger, forget Lennon, forget them all….Harvery and the sensational band from Glasgow were the real deal. No frills, no bullshit, no bollocks….these guys were the business.
This video actually is a little difficult to listen to being as tin like in it’s sound. However I saw this band live 2 or 3 time at the Trenton War Memorial building in New Jersey back in 74 or 75. The acoustics there are excellent and the performance was great. In fact that’s why I went back to see them again. They know how to rock!
I was turned on to this song/album in high school 73 or74, and was BLOWN AWAY as this was far superior to anything else out there in the cutting edge category.
Use to have 5-6 LP’s and noone knew who the hell they were. What a crime!
Finally! I searched for this one before but for some reason I couldn’t find this one. I remember back in the late 70s when a friend played a couple of albums for me. Instant fan…or maybe I was high on weed. LOL
I just recently found out about SAHB and have been spreading the word! Alex Harvey is one of the best front men of all time for sure! And Zal is a brilliant guitarist!
Alex is finally getting the recognition that he didn’t get when he was alive… thanks to youtube. I’m just so glad that there was so much ‘video’ of The SAHB left to see.
The other bonus is that Zal Cleminson is being heard too… an awesome guitar ‘personality’ ~~~
I agree. I never heard of them until after Alex passed away. My friend had picked up one of their albums and I borrowed it often.
They received no airplay in Pittsburgh except for maybe on public supported radio.
I agree today’s music is such a joke and waste of time! You wanna-be musicians of today need to watch and learn! I can see many groups from the past that were influenced by SAHB.
Its hard to imagine a 40 plus year old performer becoming big these days-but thats what happened with alex harvey-the SAHB made a lot of great music. This is a great live song.
his brother apparently was a fine guitarist who got electrocuted and died live on stage.

It’s like funk meet a 50’s detective drama and they had a baby who did a lot of acid and started a band.

Not sad, old son – respect always lives on.
However, if you’re the same size as the sensational Mr Cleminson, (now retired) you need to have a wee word with yourself!
SAHB – the things that dreams are made of!

Oh Terry, that’s just brought back that Les was electrocuted on-stage. Severely ficked up Alex’s head for some time.
RIP both.
