I get a huge kick out of when they sing live, ‘Do you wanna go suck some Chinese cock?’
And to think Johnny Ramone thought this song was too serious.

You are somewhat incorrect: The earliest incarnation of this song was when Dee Dee Ramone wrote it, then recorded it to play for Johnny Ramone (who initially refused to let it be a Ramones song until years later). It was only after this that Dee Dee gave the song to Thunders and Nolan. Those two got Richard Hell to add the lyrics “its hot as a bitch, I shoulda been rich but I’m just diggin’ a Chinese ditch” and finally complete the song.

Thanks for posting this. I´m so glad there´s actually pics of the guy not being a heroin addict. He was great for a short while and then became a circus monster.

This song in its earliest incarnation is a demo w/ Richard Hell bass and lead vox,
Johnny Thunders guitar, W. Lure other guitar and Jerry Nolan on drums. 1975.
Available on “Time” a R.Hell comp. Writers credits are Hell/Thunders/Ramone/Nolan. Ramones did not release song until ‘79
‘End of the Century’. Bollocks to Spector, he fukt that album right up. FYI

Yahh thats true but it doesnt changed the fact that the ramones were more devoted to music then to dope even dee dee although at some points its hard to tell. but for a bunch of junkies they did a solid version

Well, just to be fair, the Ramones’ version WAS given the Phil Spector production treatment, so ….
Plus, only Dee Dee was shooting smack, so that probably had something to do with it as well.
When I saw Thunders’ last show in San Diego, he couldn’t be bothered to stay on stage for five minutes before taking off his guitar and disappearing backstage. He made Shane McGowan look like the picture of health!
