I’m not sure of this, but I believe that around the time In the Still of the Night was on the charts, one member was drafted into the Army. That could be why only 4 members are in this particular performance.

I saw the Five Satins at the Inglewood (CA) Foum.
The Five Satins sang this song 3 or 4 times in a row (by audience demand). The musicians walked off the stage and the Fivei Satins sang with no music and still sounded great.
In the Still of the Night and Earth Angel by the Peguins are my favorit off all time

In the still of the night is one of the best songs off all time. It sounds as good today 2009 as it did when it came out.
I have listened to this song a few times every year. I never get tired of it

Hm. This music is great in many ways, and one way is that when you look at today’s music, performing live doesn’t sound as good. That’s because studio voices (A CD if you will) is tampered with to make it sound better. So this is pure, because they didn’t need their voices remixed to sound like they do on their records.
